Here are a few things that you can do to reduce your electricity consumption.
- Install CFL (Compact Flourescent Lights) - They really have come along way in recent years.
The light they emit isn't as cold as it used to be.
- Unplug your phone charger when not in use or at least put it on a switchable power strip.
Any of these types of power chargers or power supplies are actually on all the time, even when not in use.
- Turn off the heated drying cycle to your dishwasher - This does however, increase the drying time.
- Use a clothes line instead of the dryer when possible - Added bonus: clothes don't wear out as fast.
- Close curtains or blinds during summer in the windows that are getting direct sun - This will prevent
the sun from warming the inside of your house which you are trying to cool off with your air conditioner.
