Data Recovery isn't a clear-cut issue like others. There are alot of things that come into play with your data.
For instance, if your hard disk crashes, the more you try to boot up yor computer to get to your files, the more chance you hasve of
corrupting the whole hard disk. Where as if you just deleted something and emptied the recycle bin, then the longer you wait to
recover the file - and the longer you leave the computer on or boot it up, then the more chance you risk loosing file forever.
At any rate, I'll go deeper into the details of these soon, but for now, here is a program that I use regularly to recover files for clients.
I usually take out their hard disk and plug it into a spare computer that already has this program on to recover the files.
Installing any program on a computer that you want to recover a file from is risky business as you may overwrite the very file you are looking for.
